What is a politician’s job? That is the question that our members of parliament should be asking themselves in light of recent goings on in the UK politics.
What with over claiming expenses, swapping houses, or wrongly declaring their main homes.
In my opinion, one of their jobs is reviewing all of the rules, laws and regulations in our country, seeing if they are fair and just, then, if they are not amending them. They themselves should not be and are not above these rules. They have a duty to us, their constituents to be fair in all that they do, they should be impartial, honest and trustworthy. Clearly over the last few months many of them have been proved to be just the opposite. (Not that we didn’t already know this)
In saying this, it shows that politics in our country appears to have become lost. No more is it politics, but business. Rather than looking after the people, they seem to look after themselves first, their government second and the people lag way behind in third place. In this, the MP should not even be in the equation.
Many years ago, in politics, a man forged out his career first, made a name for himself, became well known and respected in his community. Not like today where we have these young know-nothing-of-real-life career politicians, who think they know it all from getting their degree at University. This is NOT real life, they have never left school, they are children, who lack the wisdom to run our country in a fair and decent way.
